The Provincial Grand Lodge Angling Competition 2023

The PGL Angling Competition took place on Saturday 13th May at Arranview fishery. The RWPGM Bro David Irving opened the competition and assisted in the draw for pegs. It was a day of 2 half's, with the majority of the fish being caught in the morning.

Jim Lunney from Lodge Leven St John 170 caught his 4 fish limit in the first 30 minutes of the competition. His teammate Jim McColl was bagged up by approximately 10.30. The heaviest fish was a Brown Trout weighing 5lb 7oz caught by Jim McColl from Lodge Leven St John 170. The winning team was Lodge Leven St John 170 with 7 fish weighing 22lb 10oz, this was with the heaviest fish of the competition deducted from their total catch. Runners up were Lodge Dumbarton Kilwinning 18 with 7 fish weighing 19lb 14oz.   A total of 33 fish were caught, this was a great improvement on last year when only 7 fish were caught. The Depute Provincial Grand Master Bro John MacQueen presented the prizes for the day. Presentation of the trophies will take place later in the year.    Bro McColl and I would like to thank everyone who participated in the competition. It was great to see an improvement in numbers and we hope you will all support the competition next year.
