Masters Dinner 2008

On Tuesday the 1st April 2008 the PGL of Dunbartonshire held its Annual Masters Dinner in the premises of Dumbarton Kilwinning Lodge No 18. The PGM, Bro. Thomas K Leckenby, opened the proceedings for the evening by welcoming the 101 Masonic brethren from the province to the dinner. Of particular note was that all 21 Lodges in the province were represented and 16 of the 21 reigning Masters were in attendance.

Bro. Leckenby then introduced his “top-table” and in particular his invited guest speaker Bro James L Jack, PGM of Lanarkshire Middle Ward.

After the welcomes, a splendid meal was served and thoroughly enjoyed by all. A short recess followed allowing the caterers to clear the tables and prepare the floor for the eagerly awaited presentation to be given by Bro Jack.

Bro. Jack took the floor and gave a most informative and fascinating lecture on “The George Washington National Masonic Memorial, Alexandria, Virginia”. It has to be said that Bro Jack’s enthusiasm for his subject shone through and his depth of knowledge of the life and times surrounding Bro George Washington and the area of Virginia at that time was thoroughly enjoyed by all. This was demonstrated to the full as Bro Jack received and responded to the many varied questions posed by the Dunbartonshire brethren.

Bro. Leckenby congratulated Bro Jack on behalf of the Province for his presentation and the assembled brethren ensured Bro Jack was left in no doubt of their appreciation through a prolonged applause.

A vote of thanks was proposed by Bro. John R McCormack and the brethren responded in a very enthusiastic manner particularly conveying their appreciation to the event organisers, the caterers, DKL No 18 and the staff of Dumbarton Masonic Sports and Social Club.
