2016 PGL Fishing Competition

The Provincial Grand Lodge of Dunbartonshire Fishing Competition took place at Burnhouse Lochan Fishery, Bonnybridge on Saturday, 14th May 2016 between 09.30 and 16.15.

Some 17 anglers took part representing seven lodges, namely, 39, 170, 384, 1234, 1304, 1309 and 1572. The weather was sunny with a light swirling wind while the loch water was quite brown which together with the overall bright conditions contributed to a low catch rate. A total of nine fish were caught, all rainbow trout.

The winning team was Lodge 170 with Bro James McColl and Bro Frank Ramage having a total catch of 4 fish weighing 9lb13oz while the runners up came from lodge 39 with a catch of 2 fish weighing 6lb2oz. The heaviest single fish weighed 3lb9oz and was caught by Bro Malcolm Macdonald from lodge 1234. The prizes were presented to the winners by PGM Substitute David Irving who congratulated the winners and thanked everyone for their support. The event was considered to have been a very successful day by the participants and the organisers look forward to the support of the brethren for next years event and indeed are looking for feedback and suggestions so as to ensure the ongoing success of the competition.
