Angling Competition 2011

On Saturday 14th May 2011 the PGL Annual fishing competition was once again held at Lawfield Fishery in Kimacolm. A breeze blowing across the loch proved to be a fair challenge to the 32 anglers who were representing 7 lodges from the Province. The contest started right on time at 9 a.m. as the fishermen took to their allocated pegs and it didn't take long for the first of a total catch of 60 fish to be landed. That accolade went to the Bro. Malcolm MacDonald representing Lodge No 1234. A keen competitive spirit was evident throughout the day and the tempo of fish landed remained steady. The final results were as follows:

McGregor Trophy (Team Prize for the heaviest bag of 9 fish weighing 18lb 15oz)

Winner : St. George No 503 (Bros. Alexander and Thomas Hyslop).

Jardine Trophy (Heaviest individual fish weighing 4lb 8oz)

Winner : Bro. Frank Ramage of Lodge Leven St John No 170.

The PGL conveys its congratulations to the winners and our commiserations to those who took part and did not take home the prizes in a splendidly run contest. For which the PGL would like to express its appreciation to the brethren of Lodge Leven St John No 170 for organising the event.
