The Annual Provincial Grand Lodge Fishing Competition

The Annual Provincial Grand Lodge Fishing Competition was held at Burnhouse Fishery, Bonnybridge on Saturday, 30th May 2015.

Some 16 anglers representing 7 lodges took part on what was a bright sunny day with a fairly strong west to south west wind causing some problems to the members as they tried to cast their lines on very brown water caused by recent heavy rain. Despite the trying conditions some 27 fish, all rainbow trout were caught.

After a good days sport the winning team was found to be R Rankin and S Clark representing Lodge Kilsyth St John 39 who caught 6 fish weighing a total of 14lbs 14oz with the runners up being representatives of Lodge Dumbarton Kilwinning No 18 again with 6 fish weighing 13lb 13oz. The heaviest fish weighing 3lb 1oz was caught by E Graham of Lodge Cochno No 1304. The Provincial Grand Master Bro John Reid McCormack presented prizes to the winning members and gave a vote of thanks to the organisers namely Malcolm MacDonald of Lodge Clydebank No 1234 and James McColl of Lodge Leven St John No 170 for their sterling efforts in organising a fine days sport
