17 Brethern Receive 50 Year Diplomas
 

The Secretary of the Lodge read out the names and dates of Initiation of the Jubilee Certificate recipients. The brethren lined up in the West of the Lodge and the Master Brother Thomas G Downie, accompanied by the Provincial Grand Master, Brother Thomas K Leckenby, who was in attendance specially to witness the occasion, presented the Diplomas marking 50 years membership of the Craft. (Brother Alexander Barrie had actually 57 years service and others between 50 & 55 years).

The Master offered his congratulations on reaching this milestone in Freemasonry and, in a short speech, thanked them for their services to the Lodge over so many years.

Brother Benjamin McConnell PM replying on behalf of the recipients gave a short résumé of events during their 50 years in the Lodge. He recalled the many happy and, also, difficult times in the history of the Lodge. He mentioned the 250th Anniversary Celebrations in 1989 as a particular highlight and the many fond memories each of them had.

On behalf of the 50 year Brethren he thanked the Secretary of the Lodge for his efforts in making this presentation possible.

The Provincial Grand Master, Brother Thomas K Leckenby, congratulated the Brethren on their remarkable achievement wishing them many more years as members of Lodge Kilsyth St John No 39 and Freemasonry.
